Guess Who Owes the IRS

Even the rich and famous does not escape the taxman. Here are a few cases where the IRS is looking to collect taxes from some familiar faces:

Alicia Keys’ new husband, hip hop producer Swizz Beatz reportedly owes Uncle Sam about $2.4 million. According to RadarOnline, the music producer has 35 tax liens filed against him between 2003 and 2010 in 3 different states. Apparently, Beatz has already paid about $4 million to the IRS.

Another music entertainer, rapper and close friend of Eminem, Obie Trice owes the IRS more than $298,000 in back taxes. The Detroit-based entertainer who was signed to Eminem’s record label, Shady Records from 2000, has recorded two albums, including his debut in 2003 that sold 923,000 copies, thanks in part to the song, “Got Some Teeth”. In 2008, Trice left Shady Records and released the album, “Special Reserve” last year. He has plans to release another one this year entitled, “Bottom’s Up”.

In June, the IRS filed a tax lien on Trice for $298,051 at the Wayne County Register of Deeds. The address on the lien was Trice’s mother’s house in Detroit. The rapper could not be reached for comment. When contacted, Trice’s father, who is also named Obie Trice, said he knew nothing about the tax lien. But he knew one thing, “I know that’s not me,” said the older Trice, “I’ve never made that kind of money to get that kind of tax debt.”

Actress Christina Ricci owes the IRS $179,568.30 in unpaid taxes in 2008, according to the agency. A federal tax lien was filed earlier this month for this amount. Ricci’s publicist, when questioned about the actress’ tax debt, said it would be paid. The star herself escaped through an open window and sneaked across a window ledge to safety.

The state of California filed a tax lien on Khloe Kardashian for $18,490.74 for taxes she has failed to pay in 2007. Incidentally, what was the year we were all introduced to ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’.
