Yet Another High Profile Person with an IRS Tax Problem
Dr. Conrad Murray is a worried man. Within a matter of two weeks, the once celebrity doctor's whole world is falling apart. If the name does not sound familiar to you, Conrad Murray was Michael Jackson's personal physician and the only person present with the singer when he died of heart failure on July 25. Due to the immense publicity and mysterious circumstances surrounding Jackson's death (multiple autopsies have been made), Dr. Murray found himself in the unenviable position of being investigated for manslaughter.
Physician, Heal Thyself
As Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Murray regularly prescribed medicine to the star. It was known that the singer took pain killers. Despite the autopsies, theories of the actual cause of death still abound. One theory is that Jackson died due to prescription pain killers administered to him by Dr. Murray. That is why investigators are looking into possible manslaughter charges against him.
But now he's not only being investigated for manslaughter, he is also in trouble with the IRS. Official tax documents show that Dr. Murray owes $21,728 in back taxes. Dr. Murray received $150,000 a month in salaries from Jackson but he still could not keep up with his tax payments.
In addition, Dr. Murray's house, which he bought for $1.1 million, is facing foreclosure. He had stopped paying for it since January and could lose it by November. The amount owed to the bank is more than $100,000. This was the same house that was raided by the Drug Enforcement Administration on July 28 as part of the manslaughter investigation.
And if all that was not enough, police searched a storage unit used by Dr. Murray because on the day of Jackson's death, two women were seen moving two boxes out of the unit.
At this point of time, Dr. Conrad Murray must be wishing that as a physician, he could heal himself of all his troubles.
